The Cheshire Elite Marathon & Half Marathon (formerly Wrexham Elite Marathon) was devised in spring 2020 when it became clear that some of the big city marathons and half marathons might not be staged due to COVID-19.
This 7.59 lap race is open to male athletes capable of running 2:40 or quicker for a marathon and female athletes capable of running a sub 3:00 hour marathon or the elite half marathon equivalent (1:15 men and 1:30 women).
We have a new and officially measured (World Athletics accredited) fast course (no: 21/024) in Pulford (rural Cheshire). It is on flat, well maintained roads in a predominantly rural area.
This race has been planned in preparation for a return to COVID-19 safe road running. Athletes must be aware that the local Director of Public Health can cancel the race for reasons such as a rise in Covid cases.
The marathon and half marathon will start on Old Lane Pulford with runners set off in waves depending upon their predicted finish times unless the situation allows for a return to normal race starts.
The half marathon will finish along Wrexham Road and the full marathon will finish on Straight Mile approximately 200 metres from the junction with Wrexham Road.
The race is fully supported with a road closure, the most up to date integrated chip-timing, free to download photographs, on course nutrition and free designated parking.
Full Race Instructions will be emailed approximately 10 days before the race.
Race entry is £33 or £31 for affiliated runners for the marathon and £26 or £24 for the half marathon (plus online registration fee).
If your Power of Ten or results link does not support your entry we reserve the right to cancel your place.
Please note that this race is separate from our Village Bakery Wrexham Half Marathon which takes place on Sunday 15th September 2021.
Due to our upfront costs we are unable to offer refunds however if we are unable to stage the race for Covid reasons we will defer you to the 2022 edition or transfer your entry to another of our races.
Runners can transfer their entry to another elite standard runner using the 'Transfer My Entry' button on their original confirmation email.
Runners can also transfer between marathon and half marathon.
All transfers must be completed by midnight on Sunday 11th April 2021.
